From apprentice to manager

Almer, 32 years

Foreman construction machinery technology

I’ve been working at PORR Equipment Services in Linz since 2008. I started with an apprenticeship as a construction machinery technician, and I’ve since become a foreman.

I acquired a great deal of knowledge during my time as an apprentice, and in a subsequent role as a construction machinery specialist, especially by repairing all manner of PES equipment.

I learned a lot during my time as an apprentice, and later as a construction machinery specialist, especially by repairing all manner of PES equipment. I’ve been a workshop foreman since 2020 and benefit from my hands-on experience as a mechanic. It helps me to solve technical challenges, including over the phone, without even having the equipment in front of me. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with my colleagues to help my team work as effectively as possible.

My main duties involve managing day-to-day business and coordinating our team of mechanics. I think it’s hugely important to invest time in our apprentices, to give them access to high-quality training and turn them into the mechanics of the future.

I value the supportive working atmosphere in our Linz team and the way we work together to solve challenges.
